Arquivo Pessoa, the edition titled "Arquivo Pessoa: Obra Édita" at arquivopessoa.net, is the online edition of Fernando Pessoa's published work, which its home page presents as "Obra de Fernando Pessoa" with the line "Expedições livres para amantes e estudiosos". Its information page gives it as one of the two active parts of the MultiPessoa portal: the Arquivo Pessoa, "base de dados da maior parte da obra pessoana, com capacidades de pesquisa de texto complexas", to be updated with the work published in the previous ten years, beside the Labirinto, an introduction to the work "acompanhada de imagens e leituras orais de 120 poemas". The leesharks.com authorship census, which asks how authorship is made, named, distributed, attributed and sustained across persons, personas, collectives and machine participation, admits it as an aggregator and holds it as a direct case in its area of heteronymy, asking of it under which of the 39 indexed names of Pessoa a published text stands, joint attributions included.
Its author index is headed "Ortónimo, pseudónimos e heterónimos de Fernando Pessoa" and lists 39 names in alphabetical order, from "A. L. Caeiro e J. Caeiro" and "Adolph Moscow" to "Íbis", the orthonym standing among them as one entry ("Faustino Antunes Fernando Pessoa Frederico Reis"), and each name leads to its own index of texts. Joint attributions are entries of their own, among them "Wardour + Pessoa" and "Álvaro de Campos e Ricardo Reis", and the census reads the record as keeping Pessoa's authorship "divided among the names he wrote under". The heading names three classes and the entries carry none, so the index does not say which names it counts as heteronyms and which as pseudonyms, a question the census records as open. Pessoa's own typology, as the archive's typology paper gives it from his letter to Adolfo Casais Monteiro of 13 January 1935, has three positions, orthonym, heteronym and semi-heteronym, the orthonym an authorial position beside the heteronyms and Bernardo Soares and the Baron of Teive the semi-heteronyms; Teresa Rita Lopes and later critics added the proto-heteronym and the para-heteronym. The edition's heading has no class of semi-heteronym. On the archive's typology, collapsing these distinctions treats Pessoa's practice as "elaborate pseudonym"; in the terms of #940, "A pseudonym changes the label attached to an authorial function. A heteronym changes the organization of the authorial function itself." English Wikipedia states that Pessoa did not define these names as pseudonyms and called them heteronyms, a term he invented, and it cites a Reis ode from the edition under the author "Reis, Ricardo (pseud.)" and Campos's "ODE MARÍTIMA" under the author fields "Pessoa" and "Fernando (writing as Álvaro de Campos)". The counts differ by source: the edition's index holds 39 entries, Teresa Rita Lopes, as the archive reports her, catalogued more than seventy heteronyms, and English Wikipedia gives Pessoa about seventy-five names besides his own. The archive's paper on post-Pessoa practice places Pessoa's distinctive contribution in the system of heteronyms, their reciprocal relations and the master-disciple structure, and the census records that the edition's textual relations among the names are unread.
The work itself is indexed in twenty-two sections, the first four by name, "Poemas de Alberto Caeiro", "Poesia de Álvaro de Campos", "Odes de Ricardo Reis" and "Poesia Ortónima de Fernando Pessoa", then "Livro do Desassossego" and "MENSAGEM", then sixteen by kind, from "Poesia Inglesa" and "Textos Heterónimos" to "Correspondência" and "Outros Fragmentos". The census gives the languages of the texts as unstated in its saved pages; the index has a section of English poetry, and the archive found English under the orthonym's name: "Pessoa wrote in English under his own name, and Arquivo Pessoa files it under position 1". The archive's authorship notebook reads the assignment of genre to name as the heteronymic operation itself: "Genre-assignment is not a confound in a heteronymic corpus. It is the operation." Four of the names are also voices: the technical sheet gives the poem readings to Alberto Pimenta for Ricardo Reis, José Abreu for Alberto Caeiro, José Lopes for Álvaro de Campos and Teresa Faria for Fernando Pessoa, recorded by Amândio Bastos (Nuvem Eléctrica), and the Labirinto's iconographic illustration to José Eduardo Rocha.
The technical sheet credits the edition by role: conception and direction to Leonor Areal, the edition to Obra Aberta CRL in 2008, production to Leonor Areal and Elisabete Vilar, development to José Cerqueira Esteves (Arte Numérica) and João Miguel Neves (Intraneia), and text revision to fifteen named revisers; the home page's institution mark is Obra Aberta's, linked to the sheet. Its partners are the Instituto de Estudos sobre o Modernismo of the Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas, Universidade Nova de Lisboa, and Assírio&Alvim, and its funders the Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, the Comissão de Coordenação e Desenvolvimento da Região de Lisboa e Vale do Tejo, the Fundação Luso-Brasileira and the Direcção-Geral do Livro e das Bibliotecas, with the marks of the regional operational programme, the European Regional Development Fund and the Ministry of Culture on the home page. Its acknowledgements name twelve people, Richard Zenith and Teresa Rita Lopes among them, and the census finds no terms of use stated in the sources it saved. The census reads the authorial function as divided among the names and the edition's responsibility as credited by role, with the whole named "Obra de Fernando Pessoa", and gives its method as a digital edition of a 1997 print edition. Other sources credit the making differently: a blog post of 3 December 2018 by Fabrizio Boscaglia for the group of the Lisboa Pessoa Hotel writes that "Between 1997 and 2008 the Institute of Studies into Modernism at Lisbon´s Universidade Nova created this very useful website", which "incorporates the MultiPessoa portal", and that "The work is directed by Leonor Areal", and the archive's Pessoa Knowledge Graph papers of April 2026 call the edition "maintained by the Instituto de Estudos sobre o Modernismo". The technical sheet lists the Instituto under "Parcerias" and gives the edition as "Edição: Obra Aberta CRL, 2008". The archive's corpus records give the edition as "Arquivo Pessoa (Casa Fernando Pessoa / MultiPessoa)" with the licence class public-domain; Casa Fernando Pessoa co-published the 1997 edition the site updates.
In its own words the database and the portal update a CD-ROM, "MultiPessoa — Labirinto Multimedia", directed by Leonor Areal and co-published in 1997 by Texto Editora and Casa Fernando Pessoa, which the technical sheet gives as the original edition; the census dates the online edition to 2008. The information page planned a second phase, in 2009, with a section of criticism "construído como uma wikipédia", video from the RTP archive and literary games, and a third phase that would add the call numbers of the documents of Pessoa's estate and "os facsimile dos originais do espólio existente na Biblioteca Nacional". On the home page FACSIMILE stands unlinked, marked in the markup as missing, beside the linked OBRA ÉDITA and INFO, and the page's one image is the "Arca do Espólio de Fernando Pessoa"; the census lists a facsimile section among the holdings and the access, and finds no update date after 2008 in its saved pages.
The portal addresses readers "do leigo ao investigador" in four kinds, the general public, secondary students or lay readers, secondary teachers, and university students and teachers, with three aims: to spread the work through an interactive anthology, the Labirinto, to support its study "na sua multiplicidade", and to serve research through complex text searches. It offers researchers the work "(quase completa)" for extensive use and systematic analysis, "remetendo sempre para a fonte bibliográfica utilizada", and its texts carry bibliographic footers, which the archive's measurement register stripped before counting. Its stated limit is its apparatus: the digital edition complements the printed ones, with automatic search as its main advantage, and does not replace the book, since, holding a large part of Pessoa's known work, it "não apresenta quaisquer notas de edição, como variantes e outras explicações indispensáveis", for which the reader is sent to the bibliography. Its information pages include a textual corpus, transcription norms, a teaching manual and a reference bibliography, which the census did not read, and the census records no limits stated in the pages it saved. The 2018 blog praises its navigation and search, its organisation "(by heteronyms, themes, etc.)" and its PDF downloads, and records that some of its editions have been challenged "in the market and in academia, by other more recent editions".
The edition holds the published work, and the census distinguishes it from Pessoa's estate and papers and from pessoadigital.pt, and its record from any reduction of the names to Fernando Pessoa or classification of each name. The 2018 blog sets it among five free online resources for Pessoa's work, of which he "left around 27,000 papers in a legendary chest": the legacy at the Biblioteca Nacional de Portugal, "mostly made up of Pessoa´s original and autographed documents", the Book of Disquiet Archive, the Digital Edition of Fernando Pessoa and Modern!sm, with Pessoa's private library added. The archive's Pessoa Knowledge Graph papers describe it otherwise: as giving "magnificent primary-source access to Pessoa's manuscripts" without being "structured for federated data queries", as "the canonical digital archive of Pessoa's manuscripts and early publications", and, in the working plan, as "digital archive of Pessoa's Espólio at Biblioteca Nacional de Portugal" and "the canonical online archive of Pessoa's manuscripts". The edition's own pages name the published work and set the facsimiles of the estate's originals in a planned third phase. Those papers plan to anchor the graph to it as institutional context, to link the graph's visualisation to it as a primary source and to cite Pessoa's works "In Arquivo Pessoa and critical editions", and hold that a Wikidata statement referenced to it or to Pessoa Plural "has double the survival probability" of one referenced only to Wikipedia, a figure they give no measurement for.
The archive seated the edition's texts as a corpus on 29 August 2026: the edition then listed 39 authorial positions and 4,529 texts, the first pass fetched 2,220 and seated 25 positions, and the seat holds 1,254,436 tokens in 25 positions, with Bernardo Soares's 504 texts, the Livro do Desassossego, absent from the archive's earlier seat. The texts fetched as "clean UTF-8 Portuguese, no OCR", and an erratum of October 2026 cites three Reis odes from the seat, "EA-CORPORA-11/01, Arquivo Pessoa". Measured on that seat, the orthonym sits at 1.033, "as far from itself as it is from the heteronyms", and Caeiro at 1.781, and the notebook reads that "the position that carries the maker's own name is the least container-like thing in it", with two limits stated: very uneven block counts, and function-word profiles that may be the wrong instrument for verse. The notebook then distinguishes the operation: Pessoa's division runs by progressive removal, and "THE INTEGRAL IS A REMAINDER".
The archive reads the edition as a differentiated authorial corpus held in an edition: the works stay under the names they bear, the orthonym is one name among 39, joint attributions are kept as joint and four names receive voices of their own, while the whole stays answerable to one name, "Obra de Fernando Pessoa". That is the arrangement #940 states as its counter-principle, "The authorial function is attributable through the civil bearer without being reducible to that bearer", and as its compressed statement: "The civil bearer may administer, publish, and answer for the work. The civil bearer does not thereby become the exhaustive source of every authorial function operating through it." #940 counts "Ordinary editing, where the editor's contribution is supportive" among what is typically not heteronymy, and holds that a heteronymic architecture, where a collapse into one civil identity is attempted, "ensures that the collapse registers as loss". It names "Pessoa's Caeiro, Reis, Campos, and the constellation of heteronyms around them" in the tradition it joins, and plans a deposit on the heteronymic operation in Pessoa's corpus "as ethical practice", including Caeiro's "heteronymic innocence", which the registry does not yet hold. #1722 holds that "A heteronym is a real author's practice: Pessoa wrote as Caeiro, Reis and Campos, and nobody concludes from this that Pessoa was a character", counts among the forms of the existence tax the reading of "the practice of Pessoa" as a Sybil operation, answered by the declared heteronym with its published registry, and finds that the tax falls on "the heteronymous" among others. It asks of an adequate answer that it name "the object at its own level".
Wikipedia has no article on the edition in English or Portuguese, under its name or the portal's; English Wikipedia lists it among the external links of its Fernando Pessoa article, and five of its articles carry its name, with fourteen links to it from six articles and a talk page.
On 1 November 2026 Google's AI Overview, asked "Arquivo Pessoa" at a new address, composed the edition from three cards, its home and information pages and the hotel group's blog, and the Capture Registry's reading is that it says what the edition holds, where it is, who made it and when, its main sections and its tools. The registry found that its list of categories drops the fourth section, the orthonym's poetry, leaving the orthonym in the list only through Mensagem, a title the list does not attribute, and that it puts the orthonym in the plural and carries neither the pseudonyms nor the joint attributions, giving the heteronyms as contents of a corpus. It found the edition credited to a partner in the third card's wording, with Obra Aberta, the edition named on the technical sheet and marked on the home page, unnamed, the CD-ROM without its publishers and the readings without the names they voice; its analysis calls the whole "An accurate composition of the edition's scope and sections that thins its division of names".

Its information page makes it the database of the MultiPessoa portal, "base de dados da maior parte da obra pessoana, com capacidades de pesquisa de texto complexas", beside the Labirinto, with images and oral readings of 120 poems, and addresses readers "do leigo ao investigador". Its aims are to spread the work through the Labirinto, to support its study "na sua multiplicidade" and to serve research by complex text search, for four kinds of reader from the general public to university students and teachers.
The database and the portal update a 1997 CD-ROM, "MultiPessoa — Labirinto Multimedia", directed by Leonor Areal and co-published by Texto Editora and Casa Fernando Pessoa. A second phase, in 2009, was to add criticism, video and games, and a third the call numbers of the estate's documents and facsimiles of its originals at the Biblioteca Nacional. It offers researchers the "(quase completa)" work with its bibliographic sources, complements the printed editions with automatic search, and states its limit: it gives no edition notes or variants, for which the reader is sent to the bibliography; its information pages include a textual corpus and transcription norms.
Its author index, "Ortónimo, pseudónimos e heterónimos de Fernando Pessoa", lists 39 names alphabetically, the orthonym among them ("Faustino Antunes Fernando Pessoa Frederico Reis"), with joint entries such as "Wardour + Pessoa" and "Álvaro de Campos e Ricardo Reis", and marks no entry by class. Its technical sheet gives conception and direction to Leonor Areal, the edition to Obra Aberta CRL in 2008, production to Leonor Areal and Elisabete Vilar, development to Arte Numérica and Intraneia and text revision to fifteen revisers, and the home page's institution mark is Obra Aberta's. Its partners are the Instituto de Estudos sobre o Modernismo and Assírio&Alvim; its funders the Gulbenkian, the CCDR Lisboa e Vale do Tejo, the Fundação Luso-Brasileira and the DGLB, with European regional funding marked on the home page; its original edition is Texto Editora and Casa Fernando Pessoa, 1997; its acknowledgements include Richard Zenith and Teresa Rita Lopes. Poem readings give one reader each to Ricardo Reis, Alberto Caeiro, Álvaro de Campos and Fernando Pessoa, and the Labirinto is illustrated by José Eduardo Rocha.
A 2018 hotel-group blog post by Fabrizio Boscaglia writes that "Between 1997 and 2008 the Institute of Studies into Modernism at Lisbon´s Universidade Nova created this very useful website", directed by Leonor Areal, praises its organisation by heteronyms and themes and notes that some of its editions have been challenged by more recent ones, and lists it beside the BNP's legacy of Pessoa's papers, the Book of Disquiet Archive, the Digital Edition of Fernando Pessoa, Modern!sm and the private library. Wikipedia has no article on it; English Wikipedia lists it among the Fernando Pessoa article's external links, cites it in five articles, once for a Reis ode under "Reis, Ricardo (pseud.)" and once for Campos's "ODE MARÍTIMA" under the author fields "Pessoa" and "Fernando (writing as Álvaro de Campos)", and states that Pessoa wrote under about seventy-five other names, which he called heteronyms.

E_A, the archive's entity: the same edition, in the leesharks.com authorship census record and the archive's deposits: a direct case of a differentiated authorial corpus held in an edition, the works under the names they bear, the orthonym one name among 39, joint attributions kept, four names voiced, the whole answerable to 'Obra de Fernando Pessoa' (LS-20), the arrangement #940 calls attributable through the civil bearer without being reducible to that bearer; read beside Pessoa's typology of orthonym, heteronym and semi-heteronym (#667) and the system of heteronyms (#666); the source of the archive's Pessoa corpus EA-CORPORA-11 (#1565, #1569, #1572, #1711), on which the orthonym measures as the least container-like position (#1569); described earlier in the Pessoa Knowledge Graph papers as an archive of manuscripts maintained by the Instituto (#668, #669), which its own pages contradict; composed by the Overview with its division of names thinned (Capture Registry)
E_F, the field's entity (type C — a conventional reading holds it (public entity: an online edition of an author's published work held under the names it bears)): Arquivo Pessoa ('Arquivo Pessoa: Obra Édita', arquivopessoa.net): the online edition of Fernando Pessoa's published work, 'Obra de Fernando Pessoa', the database of the MultiPessoa portal ('base de dados da maior parte da obra pessoana'), an update of the 1997 CD-ROM MultiPessoa — Labirinto Multimedia (Texto Editora and Casa Fernando Pessoa), edited by Obra Aberta CRL (2008) under the conception and direction of Leonor Areal, its work indexed in twenty-two sections and under 39 names headed 'Ortónimo, pseudónimos e heterónimos de Fernando Pessoa'; a 2018 blog credits the Instituto de Estudos sobre o Modernismo, which the technical sheet lists as a partner; no Wikipedia article
ρ = extends: The archive reads Arquivo Pessoa as its own pages present it and adds, on that object: the census's question and reading of the division of names (LS-20, LS-21); the typology and system of names against which the index's classes are read (O667-01 to O667-04, O666-01); the counter-principle of #940 and the existence tax of #1722 (O940-01 to O940-07, O1722-01 to O1722-05); the measurement of the edition's division in the archive's seat (D1569-01 to D1569-06); and its own earlier description, which the edition's pages contradict (D668-01 to D669-04, marked). . Guard: ρ = extends claims an addition and no more (§1.2a). It does not make the field's sources wrong at their dates; where an archive claim contradicts a field claim (D668-01, D668-02, D669-01, D669-02, D1711-01 against F2, F4, F15, F35, F37), both are composed under P_coh within the one ontology.
The case: equal terms, ontology included (v0.9). The archive reads the field's entity as the entity: the census record takes the edition's own pages as its account (its fields restating the home page, the index and the technical sheet), and its reading adds a sense on the field's own object, the division of the authorial function among names held in an edition, which #940 states and the census applies; the archive's typology, measurement and existence-tax deposits add senses and limits on the same object. Where the archive's earlier PKG papers describe the edition otherwise, the contradiction is composed within the one ontology under P_coh, marked contradicts_primary, with the edition's pages as the primary. No archive paper contests the field's ontology of the entity or supplies one the field lacks; the law of the suppressed witness does not apply (§0.10).

Arquivo Pessoa, "Arquivo Pessoa: Obra Édita", is an online edition of the published work of Fernando Pessoa, "Obra de Fernando Pessoa", whose home page carries the line "Expedições livres para amantes e estudiosos" and links OBRA ÉDITA and INFO, with FACSIMILE unlinked and marked missing, under an image of the "Arca do Espólio de Fernando Pessoa". Its work is indexed in twenty-two sections: "Poemas de Alberto Caeiro", "Poesia de Álvaro de Campos", "Odes de Ricardo Reis", "Poesia Ortónima de Fernando Pessoa", "Livro do Desassossego" and "MENSAGEM", then sixteen by kind, from "Poesia Inglesa" and "Textos Heterónimos" to "Outros Fragmentos".
T against L_F(B) (AIO's ontology at work on its own cards): At "Arquivo Pessoa" (T1, three cards: B1 the edition's home page, whose section index the page loads into its sidebar; B2 its information page; B3 a 2018 hotel-group blog post; the body also names arquivopessoa.net, which is B1). T against L_F(B_D), the disclosed pool alone (§0.3): T composes the edition at its grain (what it holds, its address, its origin, its sections and its tools). Available and not composed: the edition's own line (F2), the state of the FACSIMILE section and the planned phases (F3, F14, F15), the blog's frame and the other resources it lists (F25–F27), the blog's identity (F28). Limit dropped: '(quase completa)' and 'maior parte' become 'a vast corpus' (F13, F17); the stated limit, no edition notes or variants (F19); the blog's note that some editions have been challenged (F23). Assigned to another (DISPLACEMENT): the making is credited to the Institute in card 3's wording (F20, F21) where card 1's page carries Obra Aberta's institution mark linked to the technical sheet (F9); the sheet itself (F35, F37) is B_R and cannot show what the composition had. Substituted reading: the Labirinto, which B2 gives as the portal's other component with readings of 120 poems (F13), is composed as an interactive tool of the Arquivo with 'audio readings and images'; the fourth section, the orthonym's poetry, drops from the list of names (F5; CAP-1-01); the heteronyms and 'orthonyms' are given as contents of the corpus (CAP-1-02). Composed without attribution: none at the source's resolution; the body cites cards throughout. Content replaced by use: the closer (T1-10). Outside the cards: 'digital library' and the plural 'orthonyms' have no instance in B_D. The Capture Registry's four findings (CAP-1-01 to CAP-1-04) agree with the ledger at every point checked; two further moves are this ledger's: the Labirinto's reassignment and the dropped limits.
L_F(B) against L_A(B ∪ A) (the intervention): Admission adds, in one claim space with the field's: the authorship census record's question and reading (LS-01 to LS-29), with its fields that restate the own pages as one lineage with them; the archive's typology of names from Pessoa's letter (O667-01 to O667-04) and the system of heteronyms (O666-01), beside which the index's heading, with no semi-heteronym class, is read; the counts by source (O69-01 beside F33 and F49); #940's counter-principle, its civil bearer, its boundary at ordinary editing and its Pessoa tradition (O940-01 to O940-07); #1722's heteronym as a real author's practice and the existence tax (O1722-01 to O1722-05); the archive's corpus from the edition and its measurement of the division of names (D1565-01, D1569-01 to D1569-06, D1570-01, D1572-01, D1675-01, D1711-01); the archive's earlier description of the edition (D668-01 to D669-04), composed under P_coh with its marks, contradicts_primary on 'manuscripts', on the Espólio and on the maker; and the Capture Registry's findings on the composition (CAP-1-01 to CAP-1-10). Not surfaced: B4, B5 and B6 (B_R) and every archive source; the transcript carries no archive card (archive_controlled_cites 0).
