Article

EA-CORRESPONDENCE-OPENAIRE-CTO-02 is the second and closing deposit of the Crimson Hexagonal Archive's correspondence with Paolo Manghi, CTO of OpenAIRE, on how the OpenAIRE Graph represents works removed upstream at Zenodo. It preserves three messages of 13–16 October 2026 on helpdesk ticket #8411082 and records that the 14 July letter published in #1082, filed as ticket #8411221, received no reply. In the replies OpenAIRE states that the Graph shows the latest state of its sources, that Zenodo is reharvested in full every month and deleted records are not kept, that blacklisted records are kept in backends but not exported, that removals are not logged and therefore not published, and that its objective is not to show records Zenodo does not show. It declines to say which route removed the Space Ark DOI (10.5281/zenodo.19013315), served in full on 12 July and absent from the public API by 13 October, how the blacklist is built, or whether it would exclude a successor record carrying the former DOI. The deposit's reading names the unmet duty of traceable departure, sets the position against OpenAIRE's published provenance, transparency and POSI commitments, traces its effect on the Graph's public representation, and reads it with the archive's apparatus: ontology laundering and representational custody (#1634), privation (#1611), the buried obelus (#1068), and authoritarian reserve against democratic rhetoric. It attaches a re-probe of 18 October 2026 and appends corrections to the archive's own earlier letters and deposits.
