Mantle Object: The Nobel Prize in Literature 2026 — Anne Carson (EA-MANTLE-NOBEL-CARSON-2026 v0.4), deposit #1670 of the Crimson Hexagonal Archive (8 October 2026), is a mantle object by Lee Sharks written on the day the Swedish Academy awarded Anne Carson the Nobel Prize in Literature "for her bold and inventive oeuvre that, in playful dialogue with the classical tradition, has created new forms for contemporary literature." It does not contest the award. It applies the standard of the archive's earlier mantle objects (#1652, #1655), that a title means something because a work bears it, to a title a body conferred, and performs two acts it keeps apart. First it specifies the operations Carson's work bears, each with a locus and a graded source distance: the kept lacuna of If Not, Winter (2002), where brackets and white space stand for the lost papyrus; the triangle of desire in Eros the Bittersweet (1986); the philologist's procedure carried into the poem; the received figure given the whole book in Autobiography of Red (1998), with a caution that Stesichoros's fragments already give Geryon pathos; and the change of carrier in Nox (2010), an epitaph for her brother in a box with Catullus's elegy 101 and her translation of it. A sixth operation, of another kind, belongs to reception: her translation has become the public carrier of Sappho's fragment 147. Second it records the archive's determination, dated 8 October 2026. The motivation's class nouns ('oeuvre', 'the classical tradition', 'new forms') compress the corpus, dropping its works and authors while keeping their kind. The word 'playful' goes further: read beside the Academy's own biobibliography of the same day, which describes both a register of play (the constellations of Simonides with Celan and Thucydides with Woolf; Keats set against a marital quarrel) and a register of loss (Nox, 'The Glass Essay'), the motivation keeps the first and sets it as the manner of the whole relation, where the works meet the classical object under a condition of non-possession: the papyrus damaged, the beloved absent, the brother dead. Under the archive's criteria for compositional entity liquidation (#1459) this is a substitution of the relation's governing modality, and the Academy's longer text serves as the external control. The object also records the motivation's first replication, in Wikipedia and in Google AI Mode at 'anne carson', and day zero of a watch at five work addresses, where every work was composed with its operation and none carried the motivation's terms. It invites any reader to check the operations against the works, and records UNRESOLVED as an admissible answer.
