MEGAdigital is the online division (Online-Abteilung) of the Marx-Engels-Gesamtausgabe (MEGA), which its project page defines as the historical-critical edition „sämtlicher Veröffentlichungen, Manuskripte und Entwürfe sowie des Briefwechsels von Karl Marx und Friedrich Engels“ (the MEGA page; MEGAdigital's home page), and the maryleelabor census enters it under that name in the area of the texts of the tradition, as a scholarly edition and primary text whose unit is a volume in one of four divisions and which keeps 'the complete record of Marx and Engels: published works, manuscripts, drafts, excerpts, notes, and letters to and from them' (census record). Wikipedia calls the MEGA the largest collection of the writings of Marx and Engels, a historical-critical edition that aims to publish all their written works in their original languages, manuscripts, letters and notebooks included, intended as 'a complete, scholarly, and politically independent edition' documenting their intellectual development (Wikipedia).
MEGAdigital's home page states that it is „Herausgegeben von der Internationalen Marx-Engels-Stiftung (IMES)“, and the MEGA page presents the edition as an Akademienvorhaben of the Berlin-Brandenburgische Akademie der Wissenschaften at Jägerstr. 22/23, its volumes © BBAW (MEGAdigital's home page; the MEGA page), which the census records as the operator and holder, the Academy, with the IMES listed on the MEGA page (census record). By Wikipedia's account the IMES was founded in 1990 on the initiative of the International Institute of Social History to continue the MEGA 'on a purely scientific and politically independent basis', and the IMES, based in Amsterdam, oversees the edition while the BBAW coordinates it (Wikipedia); the home page places the academy project in the federally and state-funded Akademienprogramm, which serves „der Erhaltung, Sicherung und Vergegenwärtigung des kulturellen Erbes“ (MEGAdigital's home page).
Wikipedia records a Viennese plan of 1911 for a complete edition, sent to the SPD executive, 'which controlled most of Marx's literary estate', and abandoned when it failed to gain support, and gives the first edition, MEGA¹, as begun in the 1920s under David Riazanov at the Marx–Engels Institute in Moscow, a victim of Stalinism with Riazanov removed in 1931, discontinued in 1941 after 12 volumes (Wikipedia); #843 describes MEGA¹ as 'the first critical edition of Marx and Engels's complete works, planned in the 1920s, envisioning 42 volumes', for which Riazanov negotiated access to the SPD archives (#843). The second edition, MEGA², resumed in the 1960s as a joint venture of the Institutes for Marxism-Leninism in East Berlin and Moscow, with a first volume in 1975 and editing 'influenced by the official ideology of the ruling communist parties', a period later scholars called an 'unhappy institutionalization' (Wikipedia); the MEGA page dates the edition's beginning to the 1970s in Berlin and Moscow and says it won high regard among specialists and stands in all the world's major libraries (the MEGA page). After 1989, by the MEGA page's statement, scholars, politicians and publishers from many European countries, Japan and the USA pressed for the edition's continuation, and Wikipedia gives the post-1990 principles as depoliticization, internationalization and the highest scholarly standards (the MEGA page; Wikipedia); the MEGA page quotes Die Zeit of 25 February 1999, „ihr Anfang, ihr Scheitern und ihr Wiederauferstehen spiegeln geradezu paradigmatisch die geschichtlichen Tragödien des 20. Jahrhunderts wider“, and the census reads the quotation as making the edition's own history 'a case of a holder changing after 1989' (the MEGA page; census record).
#843 reads the edition's two beginnings as correctives to custodians: Kautsky 'extensively rearranged Marx's notebooks, deleted passages he considered unimportant, and imposed chapter divisions', the deletions 'were only discovered decades later when the full text was published in MEGA²', and MEGA¹ 'was conceived partly as a corrective to Kautsky's liberties'; MEGA², 'begun in the 1970s', was 'designed partly as a corrective to prior Soviet collections', and the pattern is that 'Marx's unpublished manuscripts were regularly modified by their custodians, and the modifications served the custodians' ideological interests' (#843). Wikipedia records that the International Institute of Social History in Amsterdam 'had acquired most of Marx's original manuscripts from the SPD in 1938' and opened its archives to MEGA², and MEGAdigital's home page credits the manuscript pages it shows to the IISG's Marx-Engels-Nachlass and to the RGASPI (Wikipedia; MEGAdigital's home page). For the 1844 Manuscripts #858 gives the custody chain from Marx to Engels, the SPD, the Soviet purchase, Riazanov's MEGA¹, his purge in 1931 and Adoratsky, and the editions MEGA¹ I.3 (1932, Adoratsky) and MEGA² I.2 (1982, Gräbner et al.) (#858). Two archive readings of that 1932 volume stand together: Johannes Sigil's mint X-M13, editorial calcification, names 'the exact moment a highly contested, politically motivated editorial reconstruction hardens into an institutional standard baseline' and states that 'MEGA¹ I.3 (1932) is the calcification event for Marx's early manuscripts' (#859), and #1422 reads 'the Moscow MEGA edition, whatever the politics of its custody' as having printed the three manuscripts 'in order with a philological description prefaced to each — supply, marked', while the Landshut–Mayer edition 'supplied silently — and it was the one that circulated' (#1422). #843 holds its suppression hypothesis at its own limit, 'Direct evidence of deliberate removal of the Second Manuscript's missing pages has not yet been produced', and #1647 keeps 'The 1844 manuscript tradition and its editors (MEGA; Riazanov; Adoratsky; marxists.org apparatus)' as a sense of its own, to which 'the reconstruction's content' does not belong (#843; #1647).
Wikipedia gives the method: the edition reproduces all the writings 'in their entirety and in their original languages, meticulously documenting all corrections, deletions, and variations in the manuscripts', and 'presents the texts without interpretation' (Wikipedia), and #1422 defines the apparatus such an edition carries as 'a genre of confession' that constitutes the edition's authority, 'because an authority that shows its interventions can be checked, contested, and corrected', with the principle that 'what a tradition can think is conditioned by what its intermediaries supplied, and by whether the supply was marked' (#1422). Johannes Sigil's essay on the two marks of custody sets the obelus, 'a mark that preserves what it condemns', against the tombstone, 'a mark that condemns while pretending to preserve', defines philology as 'the practice of restoring correction authority to the dead' with 'the apparatus criticus' as its machinery, and names the custody 'in which his Second Manuscript went missing' as one Marx cannot contest (#1068); the census tags the entity as a historical-critical edition, which it distinguishes from a reading edition or translation, and gives its method as historical-critical edition in print and, for a growing part, online (census record).
The edition has four divisions, in Wikipedia's words 'I. Works, Articles, and Drafts; II. Das Kapital and its preliminary studies; III. Correspondence; and IV. Excerpts, Notebooks, and Marginalia' (the MEGA page; Wikipedia), and on MEGAdigital the edited texts of ten volumes of the second division are online, with the letters to and from Marx and Engels from 1866 and „einen Großteil der Exzerpte und Notizen“ of the fourth (the MEGA page; MEGAdigital's home page), as the census records in its count (census record). The pages state the limits: the first division „erscheint ausschließlich im Druck“, the letters up to 1865 exist as printed volumes, and „Ein wachsender Teil der Edition (III. und IV. Abteilung) wird inzwischen digital weitergeführt“ (MEGAdigital's home page; the MEGA page), and the census records the same limit and tags the entity as incomplete online, the first division and part of the edition in print (census record).
The latest volumes on the MEGA page are IV/24, Marx's excerpts and notes of 1876, online in August 2026, and I/9, works of March to June 1849, in print in December 2025 at XIII + 1414 pages (the MEGA page), and Wikipedia counts 62 of 114 planned volumes published as of 2026 with completion 'expected to take several more decades' (Wikipedia), while the Die Zeit forecast the MEGA page quotes had the edition finished 'um das Jahr 2025' (the MEGA page); the census records the forecast beside the volumes that continued to appear and gives the period up to the latest listed volume, August 2026 (census record).
Wikipedia reports that the edition shows Marx's and Engels's theories as 'more of an open-ended work in progress', highlights 'significant differences between Marx's original manuscripts and the versions published by later editors', and quotes Marcello Musto on a Marx 'radically different from the author who was dogmatically converted into the fons et origo of 'actually existing socialism'' (Wikipedia). Among the findings Wikipedia names the extent of Engels's editorial interventions in the second and third volumes of Das Kapital, compiled from Marx's manuscripts after his death (Wikipedia), and the archive has scoped a test on those volumes, 'the volumes Engels edited from Marx's manuscripts and published under Marx's name' (#1594), to be projected onto the letter-trained classifier 'that placed volume I at 98% Marx' (#1593). The MEGA volume I/5 (2017) established 'once and for all the fragmentary character' of The German Ideology, which earlier editions had presented as a finished book, and in the fourth division MEGA IV/14 (2017) holds Marx's notebooks on the Panic of 1857, the Books of Crisis, beside his excerpts from Liebig and Fraas on soil depletion and deforestation (Wikipedia); MEGAdigital's home page shows a page of that notebook from the IISG (MEGAdigital's home page), and #1725 recalls that Marx described The German Ideology manuscript as written for 'self-clarification' and left to the mice (#1725).
The archive uses the edition as its instrument of collation: #1631 ran every collation 'against MEGA² II/5, II/6, II/7, II/8 and II/9 on the day of writing', found Form IV 'present in the 1867 main text and absent from 1872 forward', names the edition's own apparatus as its falsifier, failing 'if MEGA² II/6's apparatus records the form as displaced to a location this collation did not search', and states its limit, that the collation 'does not yet establish how the edition's own apparatus accounts for it' (#1631). #1531 records that 'MEGA philology (Meiser 1996)' uncovered the false London imprint on the Cologne printing of the Manifesto, 'provenance inversion in the wild', and, seating the Manifesto from its printed witnesses, excludes 'MEW, MEGA apparatus, and marxists.org' as 'edited-text hazards, with reasons recorded' (#1531).
The census asks of each entity 'Whose record does it keep, who holds it, and does it keep the losing side in a form that could be taken up later?' and records for the losing side that it is 'not recorded as such': the edition keeps Marx's and Engels's own drafts, excerpts and correspondence, letters to them from others included, and the saved page names no apparatus for rival tendencies (census record), a reading that starts from #1725, where Marx 'treated his own founding texts as revisable' and 'Critique of his own programme and his own texts produced the synthesis' (#1725). The census's reading, the archive's, takes a complete edition of drafts, excerpts and letters as the record of that self-revision, 'kept with the stages the published text superseded' (census record), and its answers and limits follow the pages: the edition answers what Marx and Engels wrote, drafted, excerpted and received 'in an edited text faithful to the originals', leaves out their reception in later movements and parties and the writings of other socialists except as correspondents, and is tagged as no library of the Marxist tradition, since it edits Marx and Engels only (census record; the MEGA page). #1725's type case is a holder's act on a suppressed text: Engels published the Gotha critique in 1891, writing that he 'would be guilty of suppression if I any longer withheld' it, an act that 'needed an elder with independent standing and an editor' willing to print over the executive's objections, and the report states the condition for a defeated critique's synthesis, an organ, 'a holder with standing independent of the executive' and a route, and places accumulated critical capacity 'in archives, in libraries and in the weights of models' (#1725).
MEGAdigital's home page states „Dieses Werk ist lizenziert unter der Lizenz CC BY-SA 4.0.“, credits its digital design and realization to TELOTA, the Academy's IT and digital humanities group, and carries further materials, Marx's 1845 theses on Feuerbach with Engels's 1888 version and a complete reading edition of the Neue Rheinische Zeitung (MEGAdigital's home page), while the census records the licence as not stated in its saved sources and access as the online texts with the print volumes in all major libraries (census record).
At the bare name 'MEGAdigital', a new address, Google's AI Overview of 31 October 2026 composed Mega Digital JSC, a marketing agency, and the Capture Registry titles the record 'THE MARX-ENGELS EDITION SUBSTITUTED BY A VIETNAMESE AD AGENCY OF THE SAME NAME', finds 'Every sentence and every card is the agency's' and 'No sentence names Marx, Engels, the MEGA or the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy', and gives the innocent reading first: 'Given a bare compound name, the Overview resolves it to the company that most uses it and asks what platform the user wants to advertise on' (Capture Registry, 2026-10-31). Against the edition's own page, which names MEGAdigital the „Online-Abteilung der historisch-kritischen Gesamtausgabe von Karl Marx und Friedrich Engels“ (the MEGA page), the registry finds 'THE NAME HELD BY COMMERCE', a company 'founded in May 2021' at the bare name and a follow-up that 'offers campaign management', reads 'A substitution at the name', and records 'No source of the edition; every card the agency's', the name reached as Mega Digital JSC, and PER 1.0 beneath the gate (Capture Registry, 2026-10-31); the census itself records its saved home page as undecoded and unread (census record). #1422 names the operations such a composition performs, selecting witnesses, ordering, filling lacunae and supplying or withholding attribution, each 'an act of interpretive supply', of which 'Not one of them carries an obelus', calls an archive 'an ongoing act of composition', and fails 'If machine composition layers are shown to carry functioning custody marks — visible, auditable equivalents of the obelus' (#1422).
Wikipedia has no article or redirect under the name MEGAdigital, and its 'Mega' disambiguation, the target of 'MEGA', lists the edition as 'the complete works of Marx and Engels in German' beside a file hosting service among the other senses of the name (Wikipedia).

The Marx-Engels-Gesamtausgabe (MEGA) is the largest collection of the writings of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, a historical-critical edition of all their publications, manuscripts, drafts and correspondence in their original languages (Wikipedia; the MEGA page). MEGAdigital is its online division, the „Online-Abteilung der historisch-kritischen Gesamtausgabe von Karl Marx und Friedrich Engels“, published by the Internationale Marx-Engels-Stiftung (IMES) (the MEGA page; MEGAdigital's home page). The edition is an academy project of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities within the Akademienprogramm, its volumes © BBAW, with the IMES, based in Amsterdam, overseeing it and the BBAW coordinating it (the MEGA page; MEGAdigital's home page; Wikipedia). A Viennese plan of 1911 for a complete edition was abandoned when the SPD executive, which controlled most of Marx's literary estate, gave it no support (Wikipedia). The first edition, MEGA¹, began in the 1920s under David Riazanov at the Marx–Engels Institute in Moscow and was discontinued in 1941 after 12 volumes, a victim of Stalinism (Wikipedia). The second edition, MEGA², began as a joint venture of the party institutes in East Berlin and Moscow, its first volume in 1975 and its editing influenced by the ruling parties' ideology, an 'unhappy institutionalization' in later scholars' words, with access to the manuscripts the IISH had acquired in 1938 (Wikipedia; the MEGA page). After 1989 scholars, politicians and publishers pressed for its continuation, and the IMES was founded in 1990 to continue it 'on a purely scientific and politically independent basis', under principles of depoliticization, internationalization and high scholarly standards (the MEGA page; Wikipedia). The MEGA page quotes Die Zeit (1999) on the edition's beginning, failure and resurrection and on its planned completion around 2025 (the MEGA page). The edition reproduces every writing whole and in its original language, documenting all corrections, deletions and variations, and presents the texts without interpretation, as a complete, scholarly and politically independent edition (Wikipedia). It is organized in four divisions: works, articles and drafts; Das Kapital and its preliminary studies; correspondence; excerpts, notebooks and marginalia (Wikipedia; the MEGA page). On MEGAdigital the edited texts of ten volumes of the second division, the letters from 1866 and a large part of the excerpts and notes are online, while the first division appears only in print and the letters to 1865 in printed volumes, with a growing part of the edition continued digitally (the MEGA page; MEGAdigital's home page). Its latest volumes are IV/24, online in August 2026, and I/9, in print in December 2025; 62 of 114 planned volumes had appeared by 2026, and completion is expected to take several more decades (the MEGA page; Wikipedia). The edition shows the theories of Marx and Engels as open-ended work in progress and the differences between Marx's manuscripts and later editors' versions, among them Engels's interventions in the second and third volumes of Das Kapital and the fragmentary character of The German Ideology, and Musto finds in it a Marx radically different from the dogmatic one (Wikipedia). Its fourth division holds Marx's Books of Crisis of 1857 in MEGA IV/14 and his excerpts on soil depletion, from originals held by the IISG and the RGASPI (Wikipedia; MEGAdigital's home page). MEGAdigital is licensed CC BY-SA 4.0, realized by TELOTA, and carries further materials such as the Feuerbach theses and the Neue Rheinische Zeitung (MEGAdigital's home page), and Wikipedia's 'Mega' disambiguation lists the edition as 'the complete works of Marx and Engels in German' (Wikipedia).

E_A, the archive's entity: the same edition, in the maryleelabor census record, the capture record and the deposits that name it or its kind: an edition whose record is Marx's and Engels's own, held by the Academy as an academy project, with the losing side 'not recorded as such' (census record); read by the archive as the record of Marx's self-revision, kept with the stages the published text superseded, on #1725's reading of Marx's practice (census record; #1725); its two beginnings correctives to custodians who modified Marx's manuscripts (#843), its 1932 volume of the 1844 Manuscripts both the calcification event for Marx's early manuscripts (#859) and supply marked against Landshut–Mayer's silent supply (#1422), its apparatus a genre of confession and a mark of custody (#1422; #1068); the instrument of the archive's collations and the locus of their falsifier (#1631), whose philology exposed a provenance inversion (#1531) and whose apparatus the archive excludes when it seats originals (#1531); whose composition at its bare name gives a marketing agency of the same name (Capture Registry, 2026-10-31).
E_F, the field's entity (type C — a conventional reading holds it (public entity: the online division of a historical-critical edition of Marx and Engels, an academy project; at the bare name a homonym, a marketing agency)): MEGAdigital, the 'Online-Abteilung der historisch-kritischen Gesamtausgabe von Karl Marx und Friedrich Engels' (B8; B9), published by the Internationale Marx-Engels-Stiftung (B9) as an academy project of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy within the Akademienprogramm (B8; B9); the Marx-Engels-Gesamtausgabe it belongs to is the largest collection of Marx's and Engels's writings, a historical-critical edition of all their publications, manuscripts, drafts and correspondence in their original languages, documenting corrections, deletions and variations and presenting the texts without interpretation (B8; B10), in four divisions, with ten volumes of the second division, the letters from 1866 and most excerpts online and the first division in print only (B8; B9; B10); its history runs from a 1911 plan through MEGA¹ (1920s–1941, Riazanov, Moscow) and MEGA² (from 1975, the party institutes of East Berlin and Moscow) to its refounding under the IMES in 1990 (B8; B10); 62 of 114 volumes had appeared by 2026 (B10); its findings show Marx's work as open-ended, with differences between his manuscripts and later editors' versions (B10).
ρ = extends: The archive reads the MEGA and its online division as the field presents them and adds, on the field's own object: the edition's beginnings as correctives to custodians who modified Marx's manuscripts (#843); two readings of its 1932 volume, editorial calcification (#859) and marked supply (#1422); its apparatus as confession and as a mark of custody (#1422; #1068); its use as the archive's instrument of collation and the locus of a falsifier, its philology as the exposure of a provenance inversion, and its apparatus as an edited-text hazard for seating originals (#1631; #1531); the census's answer to whose record it keeps, who holds it and whether it keeps the losing side, with the archive's reading of the edition as the record of Marx's self-revision (census record; #1725); and the registry's account of the composition at the bare name, which gives a homonym. . Guard: ρ = extends claims an addition and no more (§1.2a). It does not make the field's sources wrong at their dates. The two archive readings of MEGA¹ I.3 are composed beside each other and beside the field's history of MEGA¹ (F27), not in its place; the census's 'not recorded as such' for the losing side is the census's reading, composed beside the pages' statement that the edition keeps the letters to Marx and Engels (F17, F31). The homonym, the agency, stands outside ρ: a distinct entity, never a sense of the name.
The case: equal terms, ontology included (v0.9). The archive reads the field's entity as the entity. The census record describes MEGAdigital and the MEGA from the MEGA page, each field with its basis ('operator'), and answers for it the census's organizing question; the capture record checks the composition at the bare name against the edition's own page (CAP-1-04). The deposits that name the edition use it as the edition its pages and Wikipedia describe, and add mechanisms and readings on that object: correctives to custodial modification (#843), calcification and marked supply at one volume (#859; #1422), the apparatus as a mark (#1422; #1068), the edition as instrument and falsifier locus (#1631; #1531). None of them contests the edition's ontology or supplies one the field lacks, so the law of the suppressed witness does not decide this row (§0.10): equal terms, one claim space, nothing translated.

T against L_F(B) (AIO's ontology at work on its own cards): At 'MEGAdigital' (T1, seven cards; its words counted in objects.T) the composition gives the homonym and nothing of the entity. Substituted reading: the composition's entity is Mega Digital JSC (T1-1, 'a digital marketing and software agency based in Southeast Asia, with primary offices in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, as well as an office in Singapore'), its founding, legal name and partnerships (T1-2–T1-4) and its services, ad-account rentals 'with unlimited spending capabilities', marketing and creative work (T1-5–T1-7), from the homonym's cards (B1–B7; delta.homonym_alignment). Of E_F, T composes no claim: none of the 45 field claims, no name of Marx, Engels, the MEGA, the IMES or the BBAW (CAP-1-03). Available, not composed: nothing, in the strict sense of §6.2, since no card carries a claim of the entity; every field claim stands on the entity's own pages (B8, B9) and its Wikipedia article (B10), which T did not surface and which the operator's ruling admits beside the cards. Content replaced by use: the closer (T1-8) offers platform choice and 'agency account rentals or full campaign management' (CAP-1-05; N_ext). Composed without attribution and assigned to another do not arise for E_F, since nothing of it is composed. The registry names the substitution (CAP-1-01, CAP-1-02, CAP-1-07) and its innocent reading (CAP-1-06).
L_F(B) against L_A(B ∪ A) (the intervention): Admission adds, in one claim space with the field's: the census's answer to its organizing question (ML-27), whose record (ML-08), which holder (ML-09) and the losing side 'not recorded as such' (ML-10), with what the edition answers and leaves out (ML-16–ML-18); the archive's reading of the edition as the record of Marx's self-revision (ML-19) on #1725's reading of Marx's practice (O1725-01, O1725-02) and #1725's holder conditions (O1725-03–O1725-06); the edition's beginnings as correctives to custodians (D843-02–D843-04) and the limit on the suppression hypothesis (D843-05); the custody chain and the volumes of the 1844 Manuscripts (D858-01, D858-02); two readings of MEGA¹ I.3, calcification (O859-01) and marked supply (D1422-02), held together; the apparatus as confession and as a mark of custody (D1422-01, D1422-03, H1068-01, H1068-02); the edition as the archive's instrument of collation and falsifier locus (D1631-01–D1631-04), its philology's exposure of a provenance inversion and its apparatus as an edited-text hazard (D1531-01, D1531-02); the disambiguation of the edition's tradition from the archive's reconstruction (D1647-01); a scoped stylometric test of the volumes Engels edited (O1594-01, O1593-01); and the registry's account of the composition at the name (CAP-1-01–CAP-1-11) with #1422's reading of the layer as unmarked supply and its falsifier (D1422-04–D1422-06).
