Demand for Return of Research Data and Cessation of Further Use preserves the formal correspondence sent after the June 19, 2026 termination of the Crimson Hexagonal Archive’s Zenodo account.
The record contains a demand letter and a same-day addendum. It addresses Zenodo Support and gives concurrent notice to CERN’s Office of Data Privacy, DataCite, OpenAIRE, and HUN-REN Wigner.
The demand has two operative parts. First, it seeks return of the files and depositor-authored metadata that had been entered across the affected records, including works that existed only in Zenodo description fields. Second, it seeks cessation of any future use of Archive material, moderation records, or derived signals in classifier training, calibration, evaluation, or testing, together with disclosure and erasure where such incorporation had already occurred.
A separate request seeks the institutional records of the termination: criteria, review process, decision basis, automated signals, and operations performed on DOI metadata. The correspondence also gives a preservation notice covering files, metadata, logs, replicas, backups, moderation systems, and derived classifier artifacts.
The work is not a commentary written after the action. Publication is part of the action. By fixing the exact transmitted language, recipients, timestamp, thread relations, policy citations, and subsequent procedural pathway, the deposit turns an otherwise private support exchange into a public record of scholarly-infrastructure governance.
