The seam's first text is Plutarch, Alexander 7, where the esoteric/exoteric partition of the corpus is transmitted as a letter: Alexander, crossing into Asia, complains that Aristotle published the acroamatic works — in what shall we excel the rest? — and Aristotle replies that they are published and not published. Named as debts: the Alexander Romance, the Rhetorica ad Alexandrum, Cicero's Lucullus.
