The First Draft — a notebook: Theophrastus as the Draft of the Aristotle-Position; speculations, seam counts, the named-function model, the stopping rule, transmodality, the Macedonian dossier, handholds and the receiving node, and the seam stylometry through the first axis and the maker-count test (v0.21)

"The First Draft" is the accumulating research notebook of Lee Sharks's Theophrastus line, deposited whole at v0.21 (6 September 2026; supersedes #1585 in thread) after the day's work, and the source from which three standalones were extracted: Aristotelian or Theophrastan (#1583), The Registry Has One Column (#1584), and The First Axis (#1586). It opens from Lee's reading of Theophrastus as the first draft of the Aristotle-position in the transition of authorial method from Plato to Aristotle — method-order, not calendar — states the received reading in full, and sets eight seams with tests. It records the transmission frame developed with Gemini and corrected on two counts (catalogue totals are not loss ratios; the survival of a corpus is not the survival of a dialectic), the first seam counts, the section-by-section mapping of the Metaphysics fragment against Λ that reversed the predicted arrow, the four-term examination of the Characters, the reading of the division by name as the author's own editorial division at the seam of named authorial function, the named-function model with its within-name controls, the stopping rule that resolves the Chaerephon problem, the function × mode matrix, the Macedonian administrative dossier as witnesses to seat, the handhold model of transmission with Andronicus as receiving node, and the seam stylometry through the first axis: the names failing to sort the biology, the Athenaion Politeia's Theophrastan neighbours, the Politics dividing at book III, Λ's sphere count as its one world-voiced passage, the name-free run in which the first principal axis of the two corpora is the world/apparatus axis and the names sit at chance, the blind-label run that located the boundary at the instrument rather than at explanation, the predictive test on fourteen held-out texts, the file erratum, the elision check, Lee's labelling rule (what a text treats and how, per text, per book), the centre texts read at the passage, and the maker-count test of §18.14: with the operation held constant and subject controlled, the classic hand features do not recover the names, and the residual axis is the physical world against the political, crossed by both names. Every ruling of the day is recorded in Lee's words; every count is reproducible from the seated texts and the stems listed.
