QFO-01, the Qurʾanic Frozen Operator Test (deposit #1533, frozen 22 August 2026), is a pre-registered measurement protocol asking whether the Qurʾanic corpus materially instantiates the architecture of Sappho Fragment 31 and its pre-Qurʾanic reception history — and refusing to let the answer be assumed. Its central legal distinction separates P_material (the operator is materially instantiated) from P_historical (the instantiation descends from the Sapphic tradition): the protocol tests only the former, and a positive result licenses rather than implies investigation of the latter.
The instrument is two-staged. A coarse blind screen combines the nine bodily channel families of the blind-reconstruction program (#1486) with five relational clauses R1-R5 that were drafted, deliberately, without access to deposit #1494 — whose body the drafting exchange could not recover and declined to counterfeit. Before the freeze, the depositing session recovered the authentic #1494 whole from the archive, and its twelve clauses C1-C12 are incorporated unmodified as the confirmatory-stage operator, with the comparison between the independently drafted screen and the authentic operator recorded at freeze: the screen proves to be a coarse projection of the C-operator's relational skeleton, with no contradiction between layers.
The protocol's integrity machinery includes a contamination firewall quarantining five verses surfaced in a prior exploratory pass (Q 5:83, 7:143, 8:2, 39:23, 41:20) together with their three-ayah contexts — permanently barred from counting as discoveries; a corpus lock against the archive's own sovereign verbatim seat of Tanzil Uthmani v1.1 (EA-CORPORA-02/08) with its SHA-256 recorded in the protocol; retrieval arms that receive frozen English semantic buckets but no Qurʾanic concordance; calibration of the pass threshold on positive controls drawn only from independently recognized pre-Qurʾanic receptions of Fragment 31 (Catullus 51 foremost) against matched negative controls, scored before the Qurʾan is opened; a Qurʾan-internal background sample seeded from the corpus hash; hypothesis-blind scoring under opaque identifiers; carrier freedoms (polarity inversion, station redistribution, inventory shedding) frozen in advance while causal topology remains non-negotiable; and explicit result classes and defeat conditions under which the instrument itself, the K-set verses, or the whole corpus is allowed to fail. Any post-result change to stations, buckets, windows, or criteria creates a new protocol version rather than repairing QFO-01. Its companion survey (#1532) supplies the control-panel loci.
