Its function is corrective in a direction the archive does not usually argue. This packet establishes that missing attribution belongs to several incompatible regimes and only some of them are injury; that a concept may need to travel farther than its author safely can; and that the difference between protection and predation lies in whether provenance remains recoverable, whether origin is falsely reassigned, and whose interests the veil serves.

Semantic samizdat is the transmission of a concept in a form that preserves its operative structure while attenuating the immediate exposure of its authors, apparatus or politically vulnerable provenance — provided that the provenance remains recoverable and is not falsely reassigned. The proviso is load-bearing: without it the category collapses into appropriation and the term becomes a licence rather than a description.

Five conditions are required.
