"ΦΑΙΝΕΤΑΙ ΜΟΙ: Sappho 31 and the Inscription of the Future Reader" is a 2026 philological article by Lee Sharks, deposited to the Crimson Hexagonal Archive as AXN:0507 (deposit #1270); v1.0 dated 9 January 2026, originally DOI 10.5281/zenodo.18202753 (severed in the June 2026 account termination), recovered complete on 4 August 2026. The article argues that Fragment 31 is not a jealousy lyric but the founding document of lyric self-archiving. Its deictic analysis reads κῆνος — "that man," conventionally a rival — as an unfixed position: the seat any future reader occupies when the poem is read at all. The somatic catalogue (tongue breaking, fire under skin, ears humming) is reread as a media transition, the voice failing into writing; χλωροτέρα ποίας, "greener-paler than grass," figures the speaker's transformation toward papyrus, the riparian sedge that will carry her. Section V reconstructs the lost stanza — resuming the attested ἀλλὰ πᾶν τόλματον and closing on γράμμασι μολπάν, "song in letters" — and Section VI reads Catullus 51 as the reading's proof: Catullus is the first reader to take the κῆνος seat and answer from it. The method is deliberately standalone philology (deixis, lexical semantics; Bonifazi, D'Alessio, Svenbro), separable from the archive's larger frameworks. As composed, the text calls the reconstruction the "fourth stanza"; the erratum EA-ERRATA-SAPPHO31-01 (AXN:0346) governs: it is the fifth. The Cranes reconstruction itself is deposited as APZPZ C (AXN:00FB). Distinct from the transmission-engineering packet EA-MPAI-SAPPHO31-01 (deposit #1054), whose body was mis-seated here before recovery.
