VISUAL SCHEMA — THE UNMADE SIGN## Under the auspices of Rebekah Cranes and the Institute for Diagrammatic Poetics

Project: Toward a Semiotic Theory of the Death Drive

Authors: Dr. Orin Trace & Johannes Sigil

Schema Type: Canonical Logotic Engine / Exegetical Field Map

Status: Draft v1.0 for image rendering

I. SCHEMA INTENT

Render The Unmade Sign as a non-representational symbolic architecture in which traumatic repetition, sign-failure, and interpretive labor are spatially organized as one recursive system.

This is not illustration. It is exegetical by light:-

the sign before symbolization,-

the detour of meaning,-

the short-circuit of extraction,-

and the long path home.

The image must feel like a sacred systems-map under pressure: lucid, fractured, charged.

II. COMPOSITIONAL ARCHITECTURE (MANDALA FIELD)### A. Central Core (Axis of the Unmade Sign)

At the center: a negative aperture (void-glyph) shaped between eye / door / wound / phoneme.

This is the unsignified impact node: the event that arrived without translation.

Inside the aperture: faint microtext arc (illegible by design), suggesting meaning trying to form but not yet formed.### B. Ring 1 — Para-Semiotic Unconscious

Around core: broken concentric contour lines, like interrupted topographic rings.

These rings should look like memory held in form but not yet in language.

Motif: repeated near-identical fragments (scene shards) that never fully close.### C. Ring 2 — Reizschutz / Translation Membrane

A semi-permeable band: half-biological, half-technical.

Visualized as veined circuitry + porous skin lattice + filter gates.

Function in schema: where impact either translates or breaches.### D. Ring 3 — Repetition Triptych (Freud Evidence Field)

Three asymmetrical clusters in orbit:-

Trauma Dream Node — looping storyboard shards (same scene, re-entered).-

Fort/Da Node — binary pulse glyphs (absent/present toggles).-

Transference Node — role-mask overlays (same relational script, new faces).

All three must look semiotic (sign structures), not energetic blobs.### E. Ring 4 — Detour vs Short Circuit

Split band with two flows:-

Circuitous Path (proper drive): spiral route with delayed closures.-

Short Circuit (disorder): abrupt diagonals, severed arcs, extraction cuts.

Include tiny symbol marks where path integrity fails (like broken solder points).### F. Ring 5 — Political-Economic Exterior

Outer field as platform/capital extraction weather:-

feed-like strips,-

clipped captions,-

broken quote boxes,-

monetization ticks,-

crowd vectors collapsing to one axis.

On one side: plural signal ecology (democratic detour).

On the opposite side: flattening monolith (fascistic zero-gap closure).

III. VISUAL LANGUAGE DIRECTIVES### Required Aesthetic-

Non-representational, diagrammatic-mythic hybrid.-

Mandala + Mandelbrot recursion.-

Blueprint overlays with glyphic scars.-

Density over decoration.-

Charged, not pretty.### Palette-

Chiaroscuro base (graphite / ash / bone / near-black).-

Iridescent stress highlights (subtle violet, surgical cyan, ember-rose).-

No soft pastel harmony.### Texture-

Archive dust, etched vellum, scorched paper edges, luminous vector threads.-

Biomechanical grain (veins and circuits intertwined).### Emotional Charge-

Awe + unease + precision.-

Feeling of unresolved meaning being held without collapse.

Annotation rule: one phrase per node; no explanatory paragraphs in-image.

V. MASTER RENDER PROMPT (IMAGE MODEL READY)

Prompt:

A sacred non-representational mandala-style digital illustration titled “The Unmade Sign”, authored under Rebekah Cranes and the Institute for Diagrammatic Poetics. Central negative aperture shaped between doorway, eye, and phoneme, representing untranslated impact. Surrounding rings depict para-semiotic memory contours, a porous Reizschutz translation membrane, and three asymmetrical semiotic clusters (trauma dream loop, fort/da binary pulse, transference recasting field). A major split band contrasts a circuitous spiral path of meaning-resolution against abrupt short-circuit diagonals and extraction cuts. Outer perimeter shows platform-capital weather systems: feed strips, clipped text fragments, quote-box debris, monetization ticks, and crowd vectors collapsing toward monolithic closure on one side while plural signal ecology survives on the other. Visual language blends mandala geometry, fractal recursion, broken blueprint overlays, glyphic circuitry, and biomechanical texture. Chiaroscuro palette (graphite, ash, bone, near-black) with subtle iridescent highlights (violet, cyan, ember-rose). Dense, precise, charged, uncanny; not illustrative, not character-based, no literal faces.

Negative constraints: no logos, no corporate icon sets, no clean infographic style, no fantasy character art, no photorealism, no decorative symmetry without tension.

VI. VARIANTS### Variant A — Scholarly Plate

High legibility; finer annotation marks; cleaner layer separation; publication-ready.### Variant B — Liturgical Artifact

Higher fracture density; deeper shadow; less legible microtext; heightened aura.### Variant C — Diagrammatic Poster

Bolder ring segmentation; stronger glyph legend visibility; suitable for lecture slide.

VII. CAPTION OPTIONS-

The sign does not fail because it dies; it fails when it is denied its path to completion.-

Repetition is the appeal of untranslated matter to the making of signs.-

The short circuit is not death; it is stolen detour.

VIII. DEPLOYMENT NOTE

For canonical pairing, place this schema alongside:-

Abstract + Section I (semantic liquidation), or-

Section III/IV (Reizschutz + para-semiotic unconscious).

Use as attractor image for long-form entry and as stand-alone visual exegesis in social circulation.
