An AXN is a content-derived identifier. Its form is
AXN:<HEX>.<FAMILY>.<six glyphs>: the hex marks position in the
archive, the family marks the deposit’s class, and the six-glyph suffix is a display
hash of the canonical text’s SHA-256. The identifier is therefore derived from the work
rather than assigned to it, and it changes when the text changes.
The archive publishes 1407 AXN identifiers as independent terms. Each has its
own canonical URL at /s/axn/<HEX>/ and is related to the work it names by
about, not by canonical consolidation: the identifier and the work are two
entities, and each is canonical to itself.
