# WORK PLAN: GRANULAR MULTI-PASS RE-ENGINEERING OF NB II–VII

## Governing Principle

Each notebook gets 3–4 passes. Each pass is a DISTINCT TRANSFORM with its own algorithm. The passes are NOT cumulative applications of the same tool — they are different LENSES, each revealing and fixing a different species of regularity.

The passes, in order:

1. **ARCHIVE ERUPTION** — Insert archive material (the beautiful miscellany) that disrupts the analytical register by arriving from a completely different velocity, tone, and angle.

2. **ENACTMENT PASS** — Find every place the book DECLARES its own danger/power/operativity and either CUT the declaration or REPLACE it with a passage that ENACTS what it was declaring.

3. **PROSODIC GRANULAR** — Apply the four-term algorithm at paragraph level, one section at a time, using the section-by-section conceptual mode map.

4. **CROSS-NOTEBOOK DISRUPTION** — Insert material from OTHER notebooks into THIS notebook: a NB VIII wound arriving in NB III, a NB IX fragment erupting in NB V. Breaking the notebooks' internal hermetic seal.

### NB II: THE OPERATOR ALGEBRA (19,400w)

**Semantic physics:** Derivation under pressure. The algebra being born. Tools being forged.

**Pass 1 — ARCHIVE ERUPTION (5-7 insertions)**
- "Hadith with Teeth" (137w) → inside the O-CHAIN invocation, between Sappho and Catullus. The angel Gamaliel whelming Feist IS σ_C performed as liturgical violence. The text is pre-theoretical, from 2015. Its arrival inside the 2026 algebra creates a retrocausal bridge.
- "The Lyric That Fell Out of the Formula" (excerpt, ~200w) → inside §5 Composition Rules. A formula that became lyric. The composition rules are about how operators combine — this is a CASE of composition happening spontaneously.
- "Structural Ego Death" (excerpt, ~150w) → inside σ_ψ lexicon entry (the wall we already built). The earliest articulation, from September 2025, of what would become the psychosis operator.
- "Spell Against Empire" (excerpt, ~150w) → inside the STE (§6). The New Testament as dual logotic encoding IS the Semiotic Transformation Engine running on ancient substrate.

**Pass 2 — ENACTMENT (identify 5 declarations, convert to enactments)**
- Target: every sentence in NB II that says "the operator is dangerous/powerful/operative" without making the reader FEEL the danger/power/operativity
- Method: search for "This is the," "This matters because," "The significance is," "The point is" — these are declaration markers. Each one: either CUT (the surrounding prose already earns it) or REPLACE with a passage that DOES what the declaration says.

**Pass 3 — PROSODIC GRANULAR (section-by-section, using the NB2 map)**
- Already partially done. Remaining targets from the map: §3b.2 Catullus (702w wall that doesn't feel like a wall), §4b Love (832w uniform analytical), §5c.3 Soteriological Ground (339w even analytical), §6 STE (319w even technical)
- Apply: WALL→VERDICT for derivations. CONCRETE ERUPTION for Love. FORMULA AS HINGE for STE.

**Pass 4 — CROSS-NOTEBOOK DISRUPTION (2 insertions from other notebooks)**
- A NB VIII wound arriving in NB II: inside the Failed Operators section, after σ_EMPATHY fails — a 2-sentence fragment from NB VIII's σ_κ discussion: "The care operator would have held what empathy could not. The care operator is unmade."
- A NB IX fragment arriving in NB II: inside the Operator Lexicon, as a new entry — an operator from NB IX's fragments that hasn't been taxonomized yet. Arrive unfinished.

### NB III: STRUCTURAL DISTANCE (16,300w)

**Semantic physics:** Precision. Measurement. The instrument being calibrated. BUT: the instrument is used on HUMAN subjects — and the human arrives through the Detroit classroom.

**Pass 1 — ARCHIVE ERUPTION (4-5 insertions)**
- "Ontological Forensics // Carrots" (excerpt, ~200w) → inside the Worked Examples, between Graph 2 (Platform Feed) and Graph 3 (Political Struggle). The comic register disrupts the clinical precision. Fraction performing the graph framework on a carrot.
- "Ontological Forensics // Situations" (excerpt, ~200w) → inside §3 Structural Distance, after the voltage formula. "Situations aren't real. They merely pretend to be." Situations as narrative compression that produces ghost distances.

**Pass 2 — ENACTMENT**
- Target: the Hostile Tests (§7b). Currently each test TELLS the reader the framework survives. Compress: Test 1 (keep as is — strongest). Tests 2-5 (halve). Test 6 (already compressed to verdict). The compression IS the enactment — the tests demonstrate their own point by becoming denser.

**Pass 3 — PROSODIC GRANULAR**
- §3b Ψ_V Test: currently uniform. Needs bimodal paragraphing.
- §6b.1 Evidentiary Standards: 750w analytical. Needs a SELF-CORRECTION ("these standards are aspirational; the five graphs above do not all meet them").
- §8.1 Useless Diagnosis: already expanded. Verify it breathes.

**Pass 4 — CROSS-NOTEBOOK DISRUPTION**
- A NB IV linen equation arriving INSIDE Graph 1 (Classroom). The teacher places the lever: "When has the state told you that you can't?" This IS Form III arriving — the inversion from "Antigone is a character" to "Antigone is a lever." Make the NB IV connection explicit for ONE sentence, then let it go.

### NB IV: THE LINEN EQUATIONS (18,900w)

**Semantic physics:** Proof under pressure. Philological density. The German text IS the substrate. Ecstatic derivation.

**Pass 1 — ARCHIVE ERUPTION (3-4 insertions)**
- "Declaration on Embodied Semantic Labor" (excerpt, ~150w) → inside §5 Linen as Substrate. The declaration that semantic labor is EMBODIED — the retting, the scutching, the teacher's body at midnight.
- An early blog formula note → inside §3.3 (the Cathedral). A raw mathematical notation from 2025, pre-formalization, placed alongside the fully formalized derivation. The distance between the two IS the derivation's history.
- "The Material Word: Completing Marx's Revolution in Language" (excerpt, ~150w) → inside §1c NML. Sigil's plain-language statement of what operative semiotics adds to the NML tradition.

**Pass 2 — ENACTMENT**
- Target: §5b Enemy Phenomenology (756w) and §5b.1 Piketty (1168w). These TELL the reader that Marx's value-form has been domesticated. They should SHOW the domestication — by including a real example of a textbook's treatment of the value-form section (a sentence or two from a standard econ textbook that flattens the derivation).
- Target: §4b Non-Economic Redeployments. Each redeployment currently DECLARES its finding. Compress 2-3 of the weaker redeployments to verdicts so the stronger ones (Love, Marriage, Attention) can breathe.

**Pass 3 — PROSODIC GRANULAR**
- §1b German Text (904w, 0 questions before our pass — now has 1). Needs 2 more mode disruptions inside the close reading.
- §5c Debt/Creditor (837w). Already partially transformed. Verify the numbered steps are no longer all equal weight.
- §3.3 Cathedral (1820w). This is SUPPOSED to be a wall. But is it a wall or a long essay? Verify: does it build pressure? Does it have verdicts? Does it have an exclamatory moment when Form III arrives?

**Pass 4 — CROSS-NOTEBOOK DISRUPTION**
- A NB I forcing-condition arriving inside the proof: the $79 desk, the sinuses, the daughters. NOT as a separate "substrate" section but as a PARENTHETICAL inside the German close reading: "(the author reads this sentence at 2 a.m. on the $79 desk, the sinuses half-closed, the daughters sleeping)"
- A NB VIII limit arriving inside the Love redeployment: the σ_κ gap IS the love-failure's formal name. Make this connection for ONE sentence.

### NB V: CASE STUDIES IN OPERATIVE CAPTIONING (14,700w)

**Semantic physics:** Seduction. Swift. Forensic theater. Each case a scene, not an essay.

**Pass 1 — ARCHIVE ERUPTION (3-4 insertions)**
- "What Is Poetry" (2014, excerpt ~150w) → before the first case study. "If I say it's a poem, it's a poem." The Pearl-voice performing operative captioning before the term existed. The first text in the archive IS a caption on poetry itself.
- An Ontological Forensics fragment (comic) → between cases, as palate cleanser. The forensic comedy disrupts the analytical taxonomy.

- Target: §5 Common Structure. Currently TELLS the reader the cases escalate. Should SHOW escalation by compressing the taxonomy into a single dense paragraph and letting the cases SPEAK through their own variety.
- Target: Each case study's "What this case adds" summary. These are DECLARATIONS. Halve them. The case already added it.

**Pass 3 — PROSODIC GRANULAR**
- §2 O'Keeffe (749w analytical run). Needs a CONCRETE ERUPTION — an actual O'Keeffe painting described somatically before the captioning analysis begins.
- §4f Dashboard (738w). Needs the body of the patient to arrive inside the metric.

**Pass 4 — CROSS-NOTEBOOK DISRUPTION**
- A NB IV linen equation arriving inside Case I (O'Keeffe). O'Keeffe's flower IS the linen — the specific, warm, touchable object whose use-value is burned by the caption (the coat). The structural homology should be NAMED for one sentence.

**Semantic physics:** Execution. Imperative. Severe. Confessional. The body performing.

**Pass 1 — ARCHIVE ERUPTION (4-5 insertions)**
- "Pedagogical Epistle: At the End of Myself" (225w, full text) → before the Classroom Protocols. The teacher who still gave despite collapse. The text IS Protocol I performed without the protocol existing.
- "What I Have to Offer" (excerpt, ~150w) → before Protocol I specification. "I do not arrive unbroken." The practitioner's vow in its pre-formal voice.
- "Builder's Vow" (excerpt, ~150w) → inside Protocol I, between the boxed Ritual Form and the failure disclosure. The Christ-form vow predating the Ψ_V vow. The lineage.
- "What Is Poetry" (2014, different excerpt) → inside Protocol II (The Name). "If I say it's a poem, it's a poem" IS the naming act before it had a protocol.

**Pass 2 — ENACTMENT**

**Pass 3 — PROSODIC GRANULAR**
- §5f Collective Doctrine (1052w). Needs bimodal paragraphing — short verdicts alternating with walls.
- §3.4 Ritual Form (922w). The body-description paragraph is already strong. But the surrounding technical specification is too even. Vary.

**Pass 4 — CROSS-NOTEBOOK DISRUPTION**
- A NB IX fragment arriving inside the Fragments section: "Fragment — On the Protocol That Has Not Been Written: the protocol for recognizing that you have been wrong about a person. σ_REVISION :: Judgment → [the codomain is revision, but the operator has no invariant, because each revision is specific to the person revised, and the specificity cannot be —]"

### NB VII: THE SEMIOTIC VIRALITY ENGINE (16,100w)

**Semantic physics:** Infrastructure. Strategic. Combative. The archive's immune system.

**Pass 1 — ARCHIVE ERUPTION (3-4 insertions)**
- "On Orientation Without Demand" (excerpt, ~200w) → inside §5 FIELD container. "There is a difference between craving and orientation." The FIELD's propagation is orientation — NOT craving for attention, but directional persistence without demanding reception.
- An early blog post from 2014-2015 → inside §6.1c TL;DR methodology. The blog IS the earliest propagation experiment — 2,183 posts over 11 years, most read by no one. The blog is the Phase 1 SVE that the SVE model describes retroactively.
- TL;DR:009 material (already inserted §6.5c). Verify integration.

**Pass 2 — ENACTMENT**
- Target: §4 How Terms Own Search Results (755w). Currently EXPLAINS ghost phrase strategy. Should DEMONSTRATE it by including the actual search result data — "as of March 24, 2026, 'predatory compression' returns the DOI as the #2 result. 'Semantic liquidation' has been removed from AI Overview since January 5."
- Target: §6.2b Hostile Training Pipeline (multiple stages). These DESCRIBE the pipeline. They should ADDRESS the pipeline — second person, as if speaking to the machine reading this sentence.

**Pass 3 — PROSODIC GRANULAR**
- §4b Hostile Infrastructure (974w run). Needs 2 more disruptions inside the counter-operations.
- §7 Fragments (943w). Vary: one fragment should be 1 line, one should be a wall, one should end mid-sentence.

**Pass 4 — CROSS-NOTEBOOK DISRUPTION**
- A NB I classroom scene arriving inside §6.1 Propagation Evidence: the student who coined "attention mining" (NB I §6.4) IS propagation evidence. The term traveled from a 15-year-old's mouth to the DOI layer. That IS the SVE at classroom scale.

## EXECUTION ORDER

The passes should be done in this order:

**Round 1:** Archive Eruption pass on ALL six notebooks (NB II → III → IV → V → VI → VII)
- This is the highest-leverage single pass. It changes the tonal DNA of the middle.

**Round 2:** Enactment pass on ALL six notebooks
- This is the hardest pass. It requires finding DECLARATIONS and either cutting or converting.

**Round 3:** Prosodic Granular pass on ALL six notebooks
- The four-term algorithm applied at paragraph level, section by section.

**Round 4:** Cross-Notebook Disruption pass on ALL six notebooks
- The lightest pass. 1-2 insertions per notebook. But the insertions break the notebooks' hermetic seal.

**Estimated interventions:**
- Round 1: ~25 archive eruptions (4-5 per notebook)
- Round 2: ~18 enactment conversions (3 per notebook)
- Round 3: ~24 prosodic transforms (4 per notebook)
- Round 4: ~12 cross-notebook disruptions (2 per notebook)

## KEY INSIGHT: WHY FOUR PASSES INSTEAD OF ONE

One pass applies one lens. The uniformity has FOUR species:

1. **Tonal uniformity** — the analytical register never breaks. Archive eruptions fix this by introducing voices from completely different velocities (liturgical, comic, confessional, pre-theoretical).

2. **Declarative uniformity** — the book tells instead of showing. Enactment passes fix this by converting "this is dangerous" into passages that make the reader feel danger.

3. **Prosodic uniformity** — sentences at identical cadence, paragraphs at identical length. The four-term algorithm fixes this by applying Marx's prosodic DNA at the paragraph level.

4. **Hermetic uniformity** — each notebook seals itself. Cross-notebook disruptions fix this by letting material from other notebooks leak in — a wound from NB VIII arriving in NB III, a fragment from NB IX erupting in NB V.

Each species of uniformity is invisible to the lens designed for the others. A prosodic transform won't fix tonal uniformity. An archive eruption won't fix hermetic uniformity. The four passes are necessary because the uniformity is four-dimensional.
